Marie Bentzon Denmark, b. 1995

"Being part of a new young generation, Marie Bentzon creates completely new reflections, dialogues and reflections to challenge existing ideals"

Marie Bentzon has a strong relationship with the place she grew up, which is reflected a lot in her works. ‘Væv’ means tissue and centres the feeling of connectedness to a place or a state of mind. The series is an investigation of her childhood home and the surrounding landscape. She started the project in 2018 when she felt stressed and disconnected and therefore searched home. Surfaces, textures, scenes, and landscapes, are the result of spending restless days at the farm where she and her relatives grew up, searching for answers about identity, belonging and disharmony. The Væv series is from her first dummy. The project was exhibited at Helsinki Photo Festival in 2021.
