Uncertainty & Possibility is an attempt to imagine and re-build our identity as a family, regardless of the sudden hardship that follows the irrecoverable loss of genetic material.
Lisa Pram’s eldest daughter is challenged by a rare syndrome, 5P-. During conception, a piece of information of the short arm of her chromosome 5 went missing. This chromosomal condition is characterized by intellectual disability and delayed development. By deploying a visual and pictorial vocabulary around Lisa’s own family, she breaks down the symbols traditionally associated with maternity and loss. She builds images and scenarios that can be mental (caring, loving, perception, learning, reasoning and problem solving), but also physical (shelter, home, tools, mass and weight). Throughout the images, Lisa shares her doubts, states of mind and vulnerability and she tries to enhance the huge importance imagination plays in giving meaning to life.
